If you’re not outside playing then hopefully you’ll see a few things here that will motivate you to do so. You can get to know me better and see my projects at heynicegarden.com.

Hey Nice Garden

grobots and other fun stuff here.

grobots and other fun stuff here.

why not

why not

Palo Verde that’s going into a client’s front yard,...

Palo Verde that’s going into a client’s front yard, love this tree!

My what a comfortable garden...

My what a comfortable garden hose!

Santa Cruz chef Jim Denevan wanted to create dining experiences that get people closer to the ingredients they are eating. So he started Outstanding In The Field, lavish meals served in the fields, ranches, and vineyards where the food is grown. According to his website, his philosophy is to share the experience of what it’s like to walk the land before each dinner to touch, smell, and taste what’s growing and to plan a menu based around what’s ripest. Sadly, I couldn’t get a reservation this year at any of the Bay Area events. But I’ll keep giving it a shot!

Anyone seen Public Farm One yet?

Anyone seen Public Farm One yet?

More farm art

More farm art

Public Farm One

I’m a little nuts for urban farming this week. P.S.1. is hosting a summer of bucolic fun in Queens with this installation. Chicken coops, fresh basil, heirlooms and art. I love seeing farms crop up in urban environments these days.

Like art installations throughout urban centers.

“The Temporary Gardens interpret the existing situations. They try to encourage new ways of looking at places, try to emphasize their characteristics. A Temporary Garden is an invitation to make new experiences.”

I saw these in person at Dwell on Design last year and it only confirmed how desperately I want one. Or to toss one into a plan for a client. These little guys are portable tubs heated by wood. No need to plug it into anything. As an added bonus you can cook over the spiral heating coil. Perfect size for a San Francisco garden.
